Yacht Charter Panama
San Blas Archipelago
Located between Central and South America, Panama is bordered both by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea - only 50 miles apart at the narrowest! The Isthmus of Panama, a physical and cultural link between two countries, is well-known for its canal. Panama is a stable, democratic, independent Republic and the U.S. dollar has been legal tender since 1904.
However, it also offers one of the finest eco-tourist experiences in the world:
Protected by a large barrier reef, San Blas archipelago sailing area is idyllic. Gentle breezes, small waves, short sails (one to two hours) between islands are pure pleasure.
In Panama, chartering a boat require two mandatory conditions:
#1- the boat should be licensed by the San Blas authorities
#2 - a licensed crew is mandatory aboard
The comfort of our boats is the best available in the San Blas with well ventilated double cabins all equipped with fans, fresh water shower, electricity on board for reading and cold drinks...
Furthermore, all our yachts serve French, Italian and International gourmet cuisine.
Choose from our fleet of 43ft to 65ft sailing and motor yachts.
Marina and starting bases
The most beautiful part of Panama is located along the Caribbean coast: the 365 island archipelago of San Blas. Established in 1938 as an autonomous Indian territory, the land and marine park of Kuna Yala offer both land and sea treasures.
Today's Kuna Indians inhabit the islands in the same way their ancestors did: trading coconuts and fishing for crabs, lobsters and snappers aboard their graceful hand carved wooden canoes complete with patchwork sails, called "Cayucos".
Most of the communities speak only the ancient Indian language and the women still wear the traditional colorful dresses in orange and yellow, highlighted with the world famous "mola" rainbow colored patterns emblazoned with fishes, birds, jungle animals or geometric designs.
Their calves and arms are tightly bound with lengths of beads known as "Uinni" and they wear a golden ring through the tip of their nose.
Of the 365 islands, only about one-tenth are inhabited, and those are very crowded. The remaining islands are deserted.
Airport
The Int'l Airport of Panama, Tocumen, has direct flights from the major cities of North and South America. Miami is only 2 hours away. European flights transit through the U.S.
After a scenic 30-minute flight from Panama City, across the continent from Pacific to Caribbean, you'll land in Corazon de Jesus where the boat of your choice will be waiting for you. A valid passport is sufficient and a 90-day tourist card is obtained through your airline.
Weather and sailing conditions
This hurricane-free country enjoys a two-season tropical climate. From mid-December to May, the cool trade winds blow. The rest of the year finds light winds and sporadic rainfall. Temperatures are always between 25-30º C (80;-90º F).
No special vaccination is needed.

Diving and Fishing
You wouldn't want to miss the fantastic snorkeling. Have you ever dreamed of swimming in an aquarium?
Fishing is a daily activity and dining on the catch of the day will give you the pleasure of total autonomy from the rest of the world. Your only decision will be how it's prepared: raw (sashimi), marinated in lemon (ceviche), cooked in the oven à la française (lemon, white wine, herbs) or barbecued.
Diving and snorkelling is amazing with brilliantly coloured coral and reef fish.
On some of our yachts, kayaks are available to our guests to provide them a very personal visit to the islands.
Local Language
Crews speak Spanish, English, German and French. The 2.7 million Panamanians speak Spanish, but English is also widely spoken.
Currency
US Dollars are used. Major credit cards may be accepted in hotels, restaurants and some shops in Panama City, nothing on the San Blas.
Strong points
There is much more to see in Panama. The local folklore, a mix between Indian and Spanish culture, is really outstanding!
Panama is a well preserved paradise for eco-tourism. Our bio-diversity is 50% greater than that of the neighboring Costa Rica. The Smithsonian has, for half a century, preserved the world's finest rainforest preserve. The protected Darien forest shelters jungle Indians living traditionally, and is one of the world's best spots for bird watching for those with a great appreciation of nature.
The City of Panama pleasantly mixes ancient and modern architecture. It's always a pleasure to take a walk in 500 year old Casco Viejo, the original city sacked by Henry Morgan, the pirate.
Of course, the Canal is one of the main attractions in Panama.
